What will the student capacity be for NBHS and LCHS after the expansion projects funded by the 2021 and 2024 Bond programs?

Each high school is being designed for a 2,200-student capacity.

How big will the LCHS stadium be compared to Unicorn Stadium?

The initial design and plan for the stadium at LCHS include 7,000 seats - 4,000 on the home side and 3,000 on the visitor’s side. The stadium will be designed to be expanded in the future to accommodate more seating.

If a new stadium is being built for LCHS, where will the students and athletes practice and compete during construction?

The plan is to host any athletic events played in a stadium at New Braunfels Middle School until the construction of the new stadium is completed. We anticipate the stadium will be completed during the spring semester of the 2025-2026 school year.

When will LCHS have varsity team sports?

They are projected to have varsity sports for the 2026-2027 school year. From 2024- 2026, Long Creek has been classified as a Class 4A school and will compete at the 4A level in individual athletics. LCHS varsity team sports won’t be classified in a UIL district until the next realignment cycle, which is set for 2026.

Will the newly purchased buses have air conditioning?

The Board of Trustees voted in 2021 to only buy air-conditioned buses moving forward.

Will the attendance zones change for any schools with the passage of this bond election?

The high school and middle school attendance zones will not change. The boundary line for the feeder patterns has been determined to be IH-35, with all schools on the east zoned to LCHS and those on the west zoned to NBHS.

How many students will attend NBHS and LCHS in the near future?

The enrollment projections for both campuses below are based on splitting the high school populations between NBHS and LCHS. The initial split will begin in Fall 2024, and each year after that, until 2026, another grade level will be added at LCHS. 2024-25 School Year NBHS 2,000-2,100 (9th-12th grade) LCHS 800-900 (9th-10th grade) 2025-26 School Year NBHS 1,600-1,700 (9th-12th grade) LCHS 1,300-1,400 (10th-11th grade) 2026-27 School Year NBHS 1,300-1,400 (9th-12th grade) LCHS 1,700-1,800 (9th-12th grade)

Why is NBHS being replaced?

After 60 years of various additions and renovations to the campus, the decision was made to replace New Braunfels High School in two phases over two bond programs. Phase 1 is being funded under the 2021 Bond program and is building about ⅓ of the campus replacement. Since the replacement is on-site, the construction must take place in phases to allow the campus to continue to operate.
