New Braunfels ISD has a number of advisory committees that are comprised of community members, parents and NBISD employees. The committees provide input and feedback on specific topics to the Board of Trustees as well as campus and district administration. NBISD has the following committees:
2024 Bond Planning Committee
Background
New Braunfels ISD Board of Trustees has formed a Bond Planning Committee to develop recommendations for a possible bond referendum in May 2024.
The committee member qualifications include:
- Current resident of New Braunfels ISD or current NBISD employee
- Agrees to work as a team to develop recommendations for a bond referendum
- Must pledge to attend a majority of the committee meetings
- Remain objective and be open to all ideas related to the facility needs of NBISD

The Bond Planning Committee will meet 5-6 times over the course of two months this fall semester at various locations. The meetings will begin at 6:00 p.m. and end by 7:30 p.m.

Campus Language Proficiency Assessment Committee (LPAC)
NBISD provides a dual language immersion/two-way classroom for the native Spanish speaking students in grades K-5. Students with a native language other than Spanish are served in the ESL Program.
Each campus has an LPAC Committee that meets throughout the year. The duties of the LPAC include identification of English Learners (EL), reclassification of EL, instructional accommodation and state testing recommendations, and progress monitoring. The role of the LPAC parent is to represent all EL students in the decision-making for these students.
Bilingual/ESL Parent Advisory Committee
The Bilingual/ESL Parent Advisory Committee was established as a way to enhance parent engagement and involvement in our programs. Using parent input, we can create and improve our programs that result in strong family partnerships and greater student achievement. This committee meets twice per year – Fall and Spring.
Title III Comprehensive Needs Assessment Committee
This committee meets once per year to evaluate the Bilingual and ESL programs and determine needs for the upcoming year. Stakeholders include administrators, teachers, parents, and community members.
Districtwide Education Improvement Council (DEIC)
The Districtwide Education Improvement Council (committee) shall advise the Board, or its designee, in establishing and reviewing the District’s educational goals, objectives, and major districtwide classroom instructional programs identified by the Board or its designee. The committee shall serve exclusively in an advisory role except that the committee shall approve staff development of a districtwide nature and perform all other statutorily mandated duties as may be required. Long-Range Facility Planning Committee (LRFPC)
In October 2022, the NBISD Long- Range Facility Planning Committee (LRFPC) was formed and tasked with developing a 10-year plan of what facilities are needed in our school district.
The committee was created with 21 members consisting of parents, community members, and staff members. They planned to meet monthly with the goal of presenting a plan to the Board of Trustees by Jun 2023.
The LRFPC presented the NBISD Facility Master Plan to the Board during the regular board meeting held on June 19, 2023.
Scope of Work:
- Developed a timeline for committee work
- Created list of possible future facilities
- Identified priority projects for future bond programs
- Projected other needs beyond 2027
- Created a Planning Template to outline 10-year Plan

The LRFPC drafted a 10-year plan that will be updated as needed due to enrollment projections and the status of current facilities.
School Health Advisory Council (SHAC)
The Districtwide Education Improvement Council (committee) shall advise the Board, or its designee, in establishing and reviewing the District’s educational goals, objectives, and major districtwide classroom instructional programs identified by the Board or its designee. The committee shall serve exclusively in an advisory role except that the committee shall approve staff development of a districtwide nature and perform all other statutorily mandated duties as may be required. Parent Advisory Committee (PAC)
The NBISD Parent Advisory Committee was established with the goal of building a family support system for student success. Parental involvement is paramount in NBISD as it partners with parents to enhance the academic and social success of all students.

Special Education Parent Advisory Committee (SEPAC)
The purpose of the NBISD SEPAC is to collaborate and create a partnership between the district and parents so communication, action and positive progress can result in benefit for the special education community in NBISD. This committee will allow for opportunities for parents to formulate suggestions and to participate, as appropriate, in decisions regarding the education of NBISD’s special education children.
