About NBISD School Counseling Services
At New Braunfels ISD, every campus is equipped with a dedicated school counselor to support all students by providing counseling in academic, social, and personal development.
Each campus also benefits from a Communities In Schools caseworker and a crisis intervention counselor to provide NBISD students with wrap-around support services for students, families, and staff, ensuring a holistic approach to mental health and well-being across the district.
NBISD School Counseling Mission Statement
The New Braunfels ISD school counselors create connections between students, families, staff, and community by providing an effective comprehensive school counseling program that will empower all students to engage in their own educational, career, personal and social/emotional development in order to become lifelong learners and responsible productive citizens.
Consent for Mental Health-Related Services
NBISD wants to ensure your child has access to the support and services provided by our school counselors. In accordance with recent legislative changes, specifically Senate Bill 12, the District must notify parents of services related to school counseling and give parents the opportunity to opt out before those services are provided to their child. School counseling services are more fully explained in board policy FFEA, and student mental health is covered in board policy FFEB. Information about threat assessments can be found in board policy FFB.

The NBISD guidance curriculum is designed to provide lessons systematically to students to facilitate growth and development in the areas of educational, career, personal, and social development. In Texas, four strategic curricular content areas have been identified for the guidance curriculum.
