New Braunfels ISD is pleased to announce the hiring of Cesario Flores as the new Director of Transportation. He brings more than 15 years of experience in transportation operations, including the last eight as a school district director of transportation.

“It’s a true honor to join a district known for its commitment to excellence, strong sense of community, and dedication to student success,” Flores said. “I feel incredibly fortunate to be stepping into this role and becoming part of the NBISD family.”

Flores will begin his role with NBISD in July. He is replacing former Director of Transportation Mary Aaron. Flores has been recognized as a proven leader, as well as for his team building and budget management over the course of his career.

He comes to NBISD from Santa Fe Public Schools in Santa Fe, New Mexico, where he has served as Director of Transportation Operations since 2022. During his time in Santa Fe, he led the daily coordination of more than 55 routes, serving more than 6,500 students. Prior to his time in New Mexico, Flores served as the Director of Transportation Operations at San Antonio ISD from 2017 to 2022. In that role, he oversaw the transportation of more than 1.8 million student passengers travelling more than 2.7 million miles annually.

Before Flores entered education transportation, he held the position of Mobility Services Manager for the City of San Antonio, a role that held from 2013 to 2017. In that position, he directed city-wide mobility transportation programs.

He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio. He is also a graduate of the Alex Briseño Leadership Development Program through the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

His professional accolades include: Quarterly EnC.O.R.E. Award for Teamwork; Quarterly EnC.O.R.E. Award for Professionalism; “Excellence in Community Service” Award for the Transportation Group; and Top Performer MVP Award for Group 52, South Texas Enterprise Car Rental Division.

“Mr. Flores brings a wealth of experience and is committed to student safety,” said NBISD Superintendent Dr. Laurelyn Arterbury. “His leadership and dedication will be a great asset to our NBISD community, and we are thrilled to welcome him to the team.”

Flores met his wife while they were both students at St. Mary’s University, and they’ve been married since 2009. Together, they have two children, an energetic dog, and enjoy staying active in their kids’ lives by volunteering as youth sports coaches. As a family, they enjoy going to the drive-in theater in New Braunfels, cheering on the San Antonio Spurs, and watching Texas Longhorns football in the fall.
