New Braunfels High School senior volleyball standout Shaylie Schaefer reached a major career milestone this week, recording her 1,000th career kill during the Unicorns’ win over Long Creek on Friday, Sept. 11th. A kill in volleyball is an offensive attack that directly results in an immediate point for the attacking team.

The milestone marks an impressive achievement for Schaefer, who has dedicated countless hours to developing her skills and contributing to the New Braunfels volleyball program.

Schaefer was celebrated by her teammates, coaches and supporters following the milestone.

As she continues her senior season, Schaefer will look to build on the milestone and help lead the Unicorns through the remainder of the 2026 volleyball season.

Congratulations to Shaylie Schaefer on 1,000 career kills!
