The New Braunfels and Long Creek cheer teams were featured on the big stage at the UIL State Spirit Competition in Fort Worth last weekend. The UIL State Spirit Championship is one of the largest cheer competitions at the high school level and includes teams from across the state. 

The event was held at the Fort Worth Convention Center from January 16-18. 

The Unicorn cheer team impressed judges, and advanced to the Finals on the second day of competition. The Unicorns secured an impressive 13th place finish competing against more than 75 participants in the highly competitive 5A division. 

For the Dragons, this competition marked a significant milestone in the team’s first season. While they did not advance to the Finals, they were able to set a strong foundation for the future of the program. 

The Unicorns are headed the NCA High School Nationals January 24th to 26th in Dallas.
