New Braunfels High School’s volleyball team continues to prove why they’re among the best in Texas as they advance to the regional semifinals this week. The Unicorns will face McAllen High School on Thursday night at 6pm at Pleasanton High School.
The undefeated district champions enter the matchup with an impressive 43-5 overall record and a 20-game winning streak. With just three wins separating them from tying the school record of 46 wins, the Unicorns are playing some of their best volleyball of the season.
Their opponent, McAllen High School, enters regionals as the fourth-place finisher in their district but is coming off a 3-1 area-round victory over Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial, improving their record to 28-15.
The winner of Thursday’s matchup will advance to the regional finals to face either Smithson Valley or Flour Bluff. The Unicorns have already defeated Smithson Valley twice this season (3-1 and 3-0) and would look to avenge last year’s regional final loss to Flour Bluff — the team that went on to win the state title.
Those planning on attending the game in Pleasanton, please note that Pleasanton is CASH ONLY at the Gate and ask for No Bills over $20.
