The New Braunfels High School volleyball team is getting ready for another strong playoff push this season after a strong 2024 campaign that saw the Unicorns reach the fourth round of the playoffs, narrowly falling to eventual state champion Flour Bluff.

Led by head coach Kate Zora, now entering her fourth season, the 2025 squad features a talented group of returning players who were key contributors in last year’s postseason run. Among them is standout setter Kingsley Minus, who has been nominated for VYPE’s Setter of the Year and earned First Team All-District honors. Minus was also named to the San Antonio Express-News All-Area Team alongside teammate Hayden Jeffers.

New Braunfels finished last season with an impressive 36-14 overall record and a 12-4 mark in a very competitive district, which includes Pieper, Boerne Champion, and Smithson Valley. The Unicorns placed third in district play in 2024.

Key matchups this season include the season opener at home against cross-town rival Canyon on August 11th. The tournaments NBHS will play in will be the Westwood Showcase, Fraulein and the BCS Aggieland Classic. The first district game of the season will be played at home on August 19th  when Boerne comes to town. The season will close on October 25th at Alamo Heights.
