It’s on to state for the New Braunfels Unicorn volleyball team! The Unicorns earned revenge against Flour Bluff in the regional final Tuesday night, sweeping the defending state champions 3-0 to punch their ticket to the UIL Class 5A State Tournament.

“The girls played with heart, focus, and determination — and we couldn’t be prouder of their continued run,” said head coach Kate Norris.

Flour Bluff ended New Braunfels’ season last year in five-sets before going on to win the state title. This time, the Unicorns left no doubt, winning in dominant fashion to capture their 22nd straight victory. It also marked the seventh consecutive match the Unicorns have won in straight sets.

With the win, New Braunfels improves to 45-5 on the season and now turns its attention to the state semifinals. The Unicorns will face off against A&M Consolidated, who earned their own regional championship by defeating district rival College Station in straight sets. The Tigers enter the matchup with a 36-9 record after finishing second in their district behind College Station.

The state semifinal between New Braunfels and A&M Consolidated is set for Saturday, November 15th, at 4 p.m. at the Merrell Center in Katy. Tickets will be $10 and the gates will open one hour before the game begins. A ticket link will be provided once the facility provides it.

The winner will advance to the state championship to face either Aledo or Highland Park.
