New Braunfels High School Distributive Education Clubs of America, also known as DECA, students showcased their talent and professionalism yesterday at the District 2 DECA Competition, competing against nearly 900 DECA members. After months of preparation and practice, 26 NBHS students emerged as district winners and have earned the opportunity to represent New Braunfels High School at the DECA State Career Development Conference in Dallas this February.

The competition was highly competitive and required students to demonstrate both academic knowledge and real-world application skills. Participants completed a written exam and a role-play scenario within their selected marketing or business career pathway. NBHS district winners include Avery Goltschalk (Principles of Marketing), Lucus Ladao (Principles of Entrepreneurship), Eve Osterhous (Principles of Finance), Zen Pena (Principles of Business Management and Administration), Isabella Cruz (Human Resources Management), Holly Denby (Retail Merchandising), Bryson Fussell (Restaurant and Food Service Management), Khloe Harrison (Marketing Communications), Meadow Hernandez (Apparel and Accessories Marketing), Franea Olmos (Automotive Services Marketing), Caroline Peterson (Business Finance), and Chloe Verducci (Business Services Marketing).

Several NBHS teams also earned district titles, including Talon Cobb and Zeke Cohen (Entrepreneurship Team Event), Monica Fuentes and Hector Santana (Travel and Tourism Team Event), Jonathan Gutierrez and Cristian Lopez Lopez (Buying and Merchandising Team Event), Stella Hales and Mary Kate Hezel (Sports and Entertainment Marketing Team Event), Harrison Mira and Elijah Nobles (Marketing Management Team Event), Ashlynne Olson and Cooper Shoot (Hospitality Services Team Event), and Ziya Patel and Marcos Ramirez (Business Law and Ethics Team Event).

Congratulations to these outstanding students and their DECA advisors for representing NBHS with excellence. The Unicorns will now turn their focus to state competition as they prepare to compete in Dallas this February.
