NBISD elementary students participated in the Gifted and Talented (GT) Showcase on January 9th and 10th.

The students, representing each elementary school’s GT program, were brought to the Westside Community Center and teamed up in mixed groups to compete in different challenges that were designed to flex their creativity, critical thinking skills and intellect.

Judges for the showcase were students from the New Braunfels High School Instructional Practices class, which is a career and technical education program in which students visit NBISD elementary and middle schools each week.

The showcase was split into two days with the Unicorn feeder pattern on January 9th, followed by the Dragon feeder pattern on January 10th.

The GT students had three challenges throughout the day. The first challenge was a space entrepreneur teamwork challenge. That was followed by a planetary lander engineering challenge. Finally, the third challenge was an extraterrestrial life creativity challenge.

Each day ended with an awards ceremony before the students returned to their campuses.
