New Braunfels ISD is proud to announce the appointment of Stephanie McClain as the new principal of Oak Run Middle School. McClain is an experienced campus leader with a strong background in instructional leadership, campus operations, and student support.

“I am truly honored to serve as the next principal of Oak Run Middle School,” she said. “Middle school is such a pivotal time, and I am excited to partner with our staff, students, and families to ensure every student feels connected, supported, and challenged to grow. I look forward to building on the strong traditions of Oak Run and serving this incredible community.”

McClain most recently has served as the Associate Principal at New Braunfels High School, a role she has held since July 2022. In this role, she has helped increase College, Career, and Military Readiness (CCMR) from 61% to 89% and improved the campus accountability rating from 78 to 89. Additionally, she served on the leadership team for Phase 1 and Phase 2 of campus construction.

Prior to joining New Braunfels ISD, McClain served as Assistant Principal and Academic Dean at Memorial Early College High School in Comal ISD from 2020 to 2022. She previously served as Assistant Principal at Spring Branch Middle School and earlier as a Campus Instructional Coach at Danville Middle School, where she helped open the campus in its inaugural year.

McClain earned a Master of Education in Educational Administration from Lamar University, and a Bachelor of Science in Physics and Mathematics from Slippery Rock University. She also holds Principal EC–12 and Mathematics 7–12 certifications.

Her professional accomplishments have earned her several honors, including being named a Rising Stars of New Braunfels Award recipient in 2025 and receiving the Teacher Leader Collaborative Award. Earlier in her career, she was recognized as the Head Instructor of the Year for the Southwest Region by the Universal Cheerleaders Association in 2017.

McClain is also actively involved in the community. She serves as an Advisory Board Member for Connections Individual & Family Services, volunteers as a coach with Texas State University Cheer, and serves as a female leader in the youth group at her church.

McClain is also a current cohort member of the N2 Learning Assistant Principal Academy, presented at the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals in June 2024, and completed the New Braunfels ISD Aspiring Principal Academy in 2023.

“Stephanie McClain is an exceptional leader who brings experience, vision, and a deep commitment to students, staff, and families,” said NBISD Superintendent Dr. Laurelyn Arterbury. “Her passion for building strong relationships and creating a positive, supportive school culture makes her an outstanding choice to lead Oak Run Middle School.”

McClain will begin her new role this summer, where she looks forward to partnering with students, staff, and families to continue Oak Run Middle School’s tradition of excellence. She will be replacing Jessica White who will be retiring at the end of the school year.

McClain resides in New Braunfels with her husband and their two daughters. As a family, they enjoy summer days at Schlitterbahn, supporting local businesses, ice cream at Scoop Street, and making memories in the community they are grateful to call home.
