As we prepare for the upcoming 2025–26 school year, we want to make you aware of a new state law that will impact all public schools across Texas. Governor Greg Abbott recently signed House Bill 1481, which requires school districts to prohibit student use of personal communication devices—such as cell phones and smart watches—during the instructional day for all grades K–12.

While this is a state-mandated change, we remain committed to implementing this law in a way that best supports our students, educators, and families. Our district and campus leadership teams are currently reviewing the requirements of HB 1481 and working thoughtfully to develop a plan that reflects both the spirit of the law and the needs of our local community.

We understand that families may have questions about what this new law means for daily routines and communication. More detailed information—including what this policy will look like on our campuses—will be shared as we get closer to the start of the school year.
