New Braunfels ISD is proud to recognize Candice Michelle Nuñez and Ian Lovell as the New Braunfels ISD Seniors of the Month for March 2025. The announcement was made by NBHS Principal Greg Hughes during a monthly school board meeting on March 10th.
Candice Michelle Nuñez
Candice Michelle Nuñez is a 4-year attendee of New Braunfels High School and has been involved in numerous activities including being an officer for HOSA and a member the Rotary Club and Student Council.
A 2-year manager of the volleyball team, Candice also has been part of the NBHS Spanish Club and as part of the NBHS welcome team.
Outside of school, she has been an active member at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church as well as an assistant teacher for the CCD program. She has participated in the Christus Santa Rosa Junior Volunteer program and has been a volunteer for the Two Rivers Marathon and Canine Classmates.
Candice is currently certified as a phlebotomist and is working on becoming a nursing assistant. As a volunteer, she has amassed more than 370 service hours.
“After graduation, I plan to attend Texas State University in the fall to earn my BSN and pursue nursing,” she said. “After graduating and working in the field, I plan to go back to school to become a Nurse Anesthetist.”
Candice is the daughter of Maricruz Alvarez De Nunez and Juan Luis Nunez Patlan.
Ian Lovell
Ian Lovell has also been a 4-year student at NBHS and has been involved in many different programs during high school. He has been a devoted member of the AV team for the past two years, helping film and edit the school announcements and related NBHS video projects.
Ian has also been a member of Art Club, Drama Club, Dinosaur Club, and National Honor Society. He currently has a 3.8 GPA and is in the top 12 percent of the class of 2025. He has been on the A honor roll for all of high school and has challenged himself by taking AP and Dual Credit courses.
Outside of school, he worked as a camp counselor at Landa Park for two summers, and before that he participated in the camp’s volunteer program. On the weekends he works at Red Circle Boba, and whenever he can, he helps his dad at his record store. Ian also always participates in Spring Fling, particularly in the Hall Decorating competition and Fun Night.
“After graduation, I will attend Texas State in San Marcos this fall to pursue my degree in Digital Media Innovations in the Mass Journalism career path,” he said. “I am already enrolled in Texas State’s Honor College and will challenge myself while getting the most out of my college education. With this learning I will have the skills to work on anything from a news broadcast team, a television show, or even a Hollywood production. My ultimate goal is to work on the post production team of a movie or tv show.”
Ian is the son of Howard Lovell and Audrey Lovell.
