Students from New Braunfels Middle School and Oak Run Middle School recently showcased their artistic talents at the Junior Visual Art Scholastic Event (JR VASE), held at Gorzycki Middle School in Austin. The event brought together young artists from across the region to celebrate creativity, technique, and visual expression.

Luke Damuth of NBMS earned the highest honor by receiving a Platinum Medal for his impressive fish sculpture. 

NBMS also saw an impressive group of students receive gold medals for their artwork, including: Eleanor Azzano, Fiona Lawson, Sadie Osborn, Clara Fuller, Luke Damuth, Dalila Plata, Skylie Tanner, Kymber Sherrill, Cali Medina, Carson Nguyễn, Serenity Zurita, Ariana Lopez, Abigail Guggenmos, Emma Carr, Kimberly Arreguin, Gavin Benoit, Anna Flanagan, Austin Vaughn, and Eileen Ye.

Students from ORMS also made a strong showing, and among those recognized were: Tenlee Roff, Aaliyah Lindsey, TJ Moreno, Laila Cortez, Carlena Dallas, Johanna Hagberg, Ivanna Ortega, and Alice Pfeiffer.

Dr. Marty Lenard, Director of Fine Arts for NBISD, praised both the students and teachers for their commitment and talent.

“As a visual arts department, the teachers have worked hard to provide opportunities for students to showcase their skills and talent beyond the classroom,” he said. “This is yet another example of how NBISD provides students opportunities to excel both in and outside the classroom. I couldn’t be more proud of the students for their success!”
