New Braunfels High School wrestler Colin McQuone capped off his high school career with a third-place finish at the UIL Class 5A State Wrestling Championships in the 132-pound weight class. The state tournament was held in Cypress at the Berry Center February 13th-15th.

Competing against the top wrestlers in the state, McQuone battled through to claim the bronze medal over Enrique Uribe of Frisco Centennial. McQuone’s record has been stellar with the Unicorns accumulating 43 wins and only 5 losses.

Four other Unicorns competed at the state championships, while one Long Creek High School student-athlete qualified.

Dragon wrestler Cruz Morales made it to the third-place match as a sophomore. He placed fourth overall in the 138-pound division.

Unicorns Miller Marsh, Lyric Larry, Casey Williams and Riley Emma Castilleja and had great seasons and fought hard at state.
