New Braunfels ISD is proud to announce the hiring of Maximilian Flores as the district’s new Chief Human Resources Officer (HR). He comes to NBISD with more than two decades of experience in various education roles, including the last ten years in human resources.

This role offers the opportunity to build strong human capital and shape an organization rooted in history and focused on creating a lasting legacy,” Flores said. “It is a privilege to work alongside a team that is committed to Every Student. Every Day.”

He will be replacing longtime NBISD Chief HR Officer Kathy Kenney who will be retiring this summer. In his role with NBISD, Flores will lead the Human Resources department, where he will be overseeing all aspects of HR, including recruitment, compensation, benefits, employee relations, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws.

Flores comes to NBISD from Seguin ISD, where he has served as the Executive Director of Human Resources since 2024. Prior to his time in Seguin, he held the same position in Lubbock ISD from 2022-2024. Throughout his career, he has also held HR leadership roles at La Vernia ISD and South San ISD. Flores began his career in HR as a human resources coordinator from 2014-2019 at Alamo Heights ISD.

Starting in 2004, Flores served 10 years as a teacher, coach and assistant principal before transitioning into a role in human resources. As a teacher, he taught eighth grade English Language Arts and Reading, and he also served as a girls and boys coach for a number of sports including football, volleyball, basketball and track.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Sport Science and English from Texas State University and a master’s degree in Education Administration from Texas A&M University-Kingsville.

Flores and his wife, Adrienne, are residents of New Braunfels, and they are the proud parents of two daughters and two sons.
