NBISD is excited to announce that Amy Malone has been selected as the founding principal of Legend Point Elementary, one of New Braunfels ISD’s newest elementary schools, scheduled to open its doors in August 2025. Mrs. Malone will assume her role in January 2025, dedicating herself to the preparations needed to launch a school that will reflect the values and aspirations of the New Braunfels ISD community.

Mrs. Malone brings a wealth of experience and a distinguished record of leadership in education. Currently serving as the Comal ISD Director of Curriculum and Instruction for grades K-5, she has overseen PreK programming, Title I compliance, and the district’s initiatives to elevate academic quality and equity. Prior to this role, Mrs. Malone served as Director of Elementary Education, a position in which she led impactful programs benefiting students, staff, and families alike.

With a strong background as a campus leader, Mrs. Malone was the principal of Rahe Bulverde Elementary in Comal ISD from 2015 to 2020, and earlier, she served as assistant principal of Indian Springs Elementary. Her career in education, which began in 1997 as a classroom teacher, demonstrates her commitment to student academic success.

Mrs. Malone has been widely recognized for her excellence and dedication to education. In 2024, she was named TEPSAN of the Year for Region 20, and in 2023, she was a recipient of a 590 Above and Beyond Customer Service Award in Comal ISD. She was honored as Comal ISD’s PTA Principal of the Year in 2018. Earlier in her career, in 2012, she was named Distinguished Educator of the Year by Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City ISD and was also a nominee for the prestigious Trinity Prize in Teaching Excellence.

“I greatly appreciate the opportunity New Braunfels ISD has granted me to lead Legend Point Elementary. Being a collaborative team player, I look forward to serving the school community with a focus on academic excellence, student and staff well-being, and stakeholder engagement. I am excited to join the Dragon family and committed to watching our students soar!”

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Mrs. Malone and her husband, Dan, have called New Braunfels home for the past 15 years, raising their children here in our community. Their son Joshua and daughter Kyla are currently pursuing degrees at colleges in San Antonio. In her spare time, Mrs. Malone enjoys spending quality time with family and friends and supporting her children in their extracurricular school activities.

Mrs. Malone was selected by a committee of NBISD stakeholders which included administrators, teachers and parents. “We are confident that Mrs. Malone’s vision and experience will be instrumental in shaping Legend Point Elementary into a successful and thriving learning environment,” said NBISD Superintendent Dr. Laurelyn Arterbury. “Please join us in welcoming Mrs. Malone as she embarks on this exciting new journey here in New Braunfels ISD!”
