New Braunfels ISD is proud to announce the NB Film Festival, a districtwide celebration of student creativity, storytelling, and filmmaking. The festival will be held May 3rd from 1 to 4 pm at the historic Brauntex Theatre and will showcase original films created by students across NBISD.
“Over the years, NBISD has seen students create films at every level—from second graders producing classroom video projects to state finalists in the UIL Film Festival. As a district, we felt it was important to showcase the incredible work that is being produced by our students, and there is no better place in New Braunfels to celebrate that creativity than the historic Brauntex Theatre,” said Dr. Marty Lenard, NBISD Director of Fine Arts. “With the film industry continuing to grow in Texas, we want our students and community to see that meaningful, high-quality films are being made right here in New Braunfels and in NBISD.”
NBISD invites students from elementary, middle, and high schools to submit original documentaries, narrative films, or animated shorts of any length for consideration. The festival is designed to recognize and celebrate the hard work, imagination, and technical skills of student filmmakers from across the district.
Selected films will be screened on the big screen at the Brauntex Theatre, with awards presented at the conclusion of the event to honor outstanding entries from elementary and secondary levels, as well as featured categories.
There will be awards given for the following category:
- Outstanding Film – Elementary School level
- Outstanding Film – Middle School level
- Outstanding Film – High School level
- Best Animation
- Best Documentary
- Best Film

The submission window opens February 1st, 2026, and closes April 1st, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. Additional details regarding submissions and applications will be shared with campuses.
Films selected for the NB Film Festival will be featured at the Brauntex Theatre on May 3rd. Awards will be presented to recognize exceptional storytelling, creativity, and production across grade levels.
