NBISD swim teams showcased their skills at the District Meets that were held on January 23rd and 24th, securing numerous spots at the Regional Championships. The Class 4A (Long Creek) and Class 5A (New Braunfels) meets both were held at Southwest ISD in San Antonio.
The swimmers needed to place in the top six to advance, and the Unicorns are sending a total of 18 athletes to regionals, including 16 swimmers and two relay alternates. The Dragons, participating in its first ever district meet advanced relay teams and one individual swimmer to regionals.
The Lady Unicorns team ended district with an impressive 3rd-place overall finish, while the Unicorns men’s side were the district runner-ups, finishing just behind Boerne Champion.
The focus now shifts to the Regional Meet, where NBISD swimmers will compete for a chance to qualify for the State Championships. Only the top two swimmers in each event will earn the opportunity to advance to the State Championships at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center in Austin.
