The residents of New Braunfels ISD elected John E. Tucker as Trustee for Single-Member District 4 on November 5th, according to unofficial election results from Comal County. The race included two candidates – Tucker and Will Moravits.

“I am glad to continue my work with the district as we had quite a few initiatives that we put in place during my time on the board, and I’ve been able to see some of those move through the system and I am excited for new initiatives as well,” Tucker said. “It’s a pleasure to serve, and I am pleased to be representing District 4.”

Tucker received 1,239 votes (53.20%) and Moravits received 1,090 votes (46.80%). A total of 2,329 votes were cast in the election and 3,950 of 6,984 (56.70%) of registered voters in District 4 voted in the Board of Trustees election.

This will be Tucker’s second term on the NBISD Board of Trustees, having previously served from 2020 to 2023. The District 4 seat had been vacant since April following Jackie Sanders’ resignation.

Tucker has 36 years of experience working as an architect and director in public schools, including managing contracts for school services and large bond programs. He has also worked with law enforcement dealing with criminal activity in financial areas of public schools. His professional career includes time working at Comal ISD where he oversaw a 2015 bond program, which included the opening of Danville and Pieper Ranch middle schools as well as Davenport and Pieper high schools.

The election will be canvassed during a special board meeting later this month and Tucker will be officially sworn in prior to the December Board of Trustees meeting.

The New Braunfels ISD Board of Trustees is comprised of seven members elected to serve, without compensation for a three-year term. Five board members shall be elected by single-member districts and two of the board members are elected at-large.
