New Braunfels ISD is proud to recognize Sophia Perez and Jason Stallard as the New Braunfels ISD Seniors of the Month for January 2025. The announcement was made by NBHS Principal Greg Hughes during a monthly school board meeting on January 13th.

Sophia Perez

A 4-year attendee of New Braunfels High School, Perez has served as the Lt. Colonel of the Monoceras Varsity Dance Team. She is also a member of the National Honor Society and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Leadership Team. 

Academically, Perez was awarded as an AP Scholar with distinction, and she is currently ranked number 16 in the Class of 2025. Additionally, she has been named an honoree of the National Hispanic Recognition Program. She has also completed all levels of Spanish including AP Spanish 4 and 5.

Outside of school, she was on the youth leadership team at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, and she has worked at the Nursery of Fellowship Church. Perez also enjoys running which led her to a third-place finish in the female division of the New Braunfels Half Marathon.

While she is still undecided about which college she will attend, she plans to pursue nursing for her Bachelor’s Degree and she hopes to obtain a Master’s in Family Medicine. 

“Ultimately, I hope to become a pediatric nurse practitioner,” Perez said.

She is the daughter of Adriana Perez and José Luis Perez.

Jason Stallard

Like Perez, Stallard is also a 4-year student at New Braunfels High School, where he has served as the president of the Spanish Club. He has also been a 2-year member of the NBHS student council, and he was inducted into the National Honor Society.

Stallard has been a member of the Chick-Fil-A Leadership Academy which engages students in monthly Leader Labs with a focus on important leadership skills that they will use to create student-led community impact.

He has also been a member of the Unicorn Track and Field team as well as spending lots of time volunteering. He has volunteered at multiple festivals, reading to elementary students and other school-related volunteer activities.

Stallard plans to study business in college, but he undecided which college he will attend.

“I plan to open my own coffee shop and other businesses,” he said.

He is the son of Elizabeth Stallard and Jaime Garcia.
