New Braunfels ISD is proud to be recognized by the Texas Association of School Business Officials (TASBO) with a 2026 Award of Merit for Purchasing Operations. Established in 2009, the Award of Merit honors Texas school districts, open-enrollment charter schools, and education service centers that demonstrate a commitment to professional standards and best practices in the procurement of goods and services.

As part of this recognition, NBISD Director of Purchasing Ginger Reiland and Purchasing Coordinator Ami Sparks were formally acknowledged for their outstanding work during the regular meeting of the New Braunfels ISD Board of Trustees on February 9.

Each year, the TASBO Purchasing & Supply Management Research Committee—made up of volunteer professionals—reviews and updates the award criteria to reflect current best practices. Applications for both new recipients and recertifications are then evaluated against these rigorous standards. For 2026, only 84 organizations statewide met the criteria required to earn the Award of Merit.

“Receiving this recognition from TASBO is a testament to the integrity, diligence, and professionalism of our purchasing team,” said Paul McLarty, NBISD Chief Business & Support Services Officer. “Ginger and Ami exemplify our district’s commitment to responsible stewardship of taxpayer resources while ensuring our campuses and departments have what they need to support student success.”

Members of the district’s purchasing team will be honored at an awards reception sponsored by the BuyBoard Purchasing Cooperative on February 25th in Grapevine, held in conjunction with the 2026 TASBO Annual Conference.
