Help your child get a head start on their education! New Braunfels ISD offers a FREE full-day pre-kindergarten program for eligible 4 year olds at Lone Star Early Childhood Center.

If your child is 4 years old on or before September 1, 2024, AND meets state and federal pre-k eligible requirements, they may register to be a student at Lone Star Early Childhood Center.

To meet eligibility for Pre-Kindergarten at no cost, a student must qualify for at least ONE of the following criteria:

  • Child is economically disadvantaged (income based off of one of the following materials)
    • Current Pay Stub
    • Tax Return
    • Employer Letter
    • SNAP/TANF/EBT
    • Medicaid
  • Child is unable to speak and comprehend the English Language
  • Child is homeless
  • Child has a parent serving on active duty in the armed forces, including a child of a member injured or killed on active duty
  • Child is or ever has been in the conservatorship of the Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS)
  • Child has a parent who is eligible for the Star of Texas Award

NBISD also has paid tuition spots available in our 4-year-old program. Please note, that once a student is enrolled in NBISD Pre-K, school attendance is not optional. This is not a drop-in or day care program.
