The first of four NBISD Elementary Chess Tournaments is officially in the books — and it was a huge success! Thanks to a generous grant from the NBISD Education Foundation, the district’s Gifted and Talented teachers are hosting a series of tournaments throughout the school year to help students with strategic thinking and problem-solving skills in a fun and engaging way.
Held on October 18, 2025, the inaugural event drew 85 student participants from across the district. Each student played five exciting games, which were scored by Complete Chess. At the end of the day, students walked away with trophies and medals.
