The New Braunfels ISD Communications team brought home several honors at the Texas School Public Relations Association’s (TSPRA) Star Awards Banquet, held on February 18th at the Galveston Island Convention Center. Going up against the best school communications departments in Texas, NBISD earned a place in the prestigious Crystal Award Finals for Photography Portfolio, secured two Best of Category awards, and collected 7 gold awards.

The Crystal Award is one of the highest distinction presented annually at the Star Awards and is open to all school districts in Texas, regardless of size. NBISD’s submission, which placed in the top 7, highlighted the district’s efforts photography. Other districts named finalists were Cy Fair ISD, Dallas ISD, Ector County ISD, Liberty Hill ISD, San Angelo ISD and Tomball ISD. Aside from NBISD, Liberty Hill ISD and San Angelo ISD, the other districts in the category ranged in enrollment from 24,000 student to 140,000.

NBISD also earned a Best of Category award in Original Art for a graphic that emphasized the More Than Myth motto as well as a Best of Category for Video Marketing, which was produced and told the story of why NBISD’s Maria’s Closet was in need of a mobile resource unit.

The district’s social media, marketing, and news efforts were also showcased earning several other awards.
