The New Braunfels ISD Communications team brought home top honors at the Texas School Public Relations Association’s (TSPRA) Star Awards Banquet, held on February 19th at the Grand Hyatt Convention Center in San Antonio. Going up against the best school communications departments in Texas, NBISD earned a place in the prestigious Platinum Award Finals, secured a Best of Category award, and collected 18 gold awards and one silver award.
“These are tremendous honors and reflect the level of community engagement that our communications team has developed with our stakeholders over the last year,” said NBISD Chief of Communications and Technology Matt Jones. “We will continue to work hard to ensure that our community is well informed and our students and staff are recognized.”
The Platinum Award is the highest distinction presented annually at the Star Awards and is open to all school districts in Texas, regardless of size. NBISD’s submission, which placed in the top 10, highlighted the district’s efforts on the 2024 Bond Election. The campaign was successful in informing the community about the three propositions, all of which were passed by voters.
NBISD also earned a Best of Category award in Education Good News for its coverage of the launch of Long Creek High School. The district’s social media, marketing, and news efforts were showcased in the submission in regards to opening New Braunfels ISD’s second comprehensive high school.
