New Braunfels ISD proudly joins school districts across Texas in celebrating School Board Recognition Month, a time to honor the dedicated volunteers who serve as school board trustees and help guide the future of public education.

School board members volunteer their time and expertise to oversee district operations, establish policies, and ensure students receive a high-quality education. Their leadership plays a vital role in supporting student achievement, fiscal responsibility, and long-range planning that benefits the entire community.

The 2026 School Board Recognition Month theme, Our Future Is Public, highlights the essential role public education plays in building strong communities, a skilled workforce, and a thriving Texas economy. Trustees’ service reflects a deep investment in students today and in the future success of New Braunfels and the state of Texas.

The NBISD Board  is comprised of seven elected community members who serve without compensation. These volunteers work collaboratively with district leadership to set the vision for NBISD, approve the budget, and make decisions that support the academic success and well-being of all students. The 2025–2026 Board of Trustees includes:

  • Eric Bergquist, Board President

  • Nancy York, Vice President

  • Steve Minus, Secretary

  • Morgan Renaud, Trustee

  • Megan Stratemann-Willis, Trustee

  • Kim Goodwin, Trustee

  • John E. Tucker, Trustee

Our Future Is Public is also a year-round campaign that highlights success stories from school districts across Texas, showcasing the positive impact of public education and local governance.

NBISD encourages students, staff, families, and community members to take a moment this January to thank the Board of Trustees for their service and continued commitment to public education.
