The New Braunfels ISD Board of Trustees has approved a tax rate of $1.0377 per $100 of taxable value for the 2026–27 school year.

The decision was finalized during a special board meeting on August 24.The approved tax rate is $0.3976 for Interest and Sinking (I&S) and $0.6969 for Maintenance and Operations (M&O). The I&S portion supports the district’s debt obligations and bond projects, while the M&O portion funds the day-to-day operations of the district, including staffing, instruction, transportation and other essential services.

For homeowners, this means no change in the school tax rate from last year. The average taxable value of a home in our district is $279,122 this year compared to an average taxable value of $305,426 last year.

The approved rate reflects NBISD’s continued commitment to responsible financial management while ensuring the district has the resources necessary to provide high-quality educational opportunities for students.

“With a balanced $114.7 million budget and no increase in the tax rate, we are proud to continue making strategic investments in student success while being mindful of the financial responsibility we have to our community, said Paul McLarty, NBISID Chief Business and Support Services Officer.”

The tax rate approval follows the Board’s unanimous approval of a balanced budget for the 2026–27 school year during its regular meeting on June 15.

The budget aligns with the Board’s Budget Goals, Assumptions, Priorities and Risks established for the 2026–27 fiscal year, which runs from July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027.
