The New Braunfels ISD Board of Trustees has approved a tax rate of $1.0377 per $100 of taxable value for the 2025–26 school year.

The decision was finalized at a special board meeting on August 25th, which means the district’s tax rate will remain the same as last year.

“We are able to keep our tax rates the same because of the increase in property value and the increase in the homestead exemptions,” said Jose Betancourt, NBISD Director of Financial Services.

The approved rate is made up of $0.3408 for interest and sinking (also known as I&S) and $0.6969 for maintenance and operations (M&O). This rate was set after certified property values from Comal and Guadalupe counties allowed the district to keep the overall rate steady.

For homeowners, this means no change in the school tax rate from last year. The average taxable value of a home in our district is $279,122 this year compared to an average taxable value of $305,426 last year. This results in a $273 decrease in school district taxes on the average home in our district.

“This tax rate directly benefits taxpayers while ensuring that the educational quality and programs that NBISD offers will remain uncompromised,” said Paul McLarty, NBISD Chief Financial Officer. “NBISD Trustees and leadership have been working together to keep the tax rate the same, giving relief to our taxpayers while continuing to provide a top-notch education for Every Student. Every Day.”

By holding the rate steady, NBISD continues its commitment to supporting both taxpayers and students across the district.
