New Braunfels ISD is excited to announce Dr. Jonathan Campbell as the new principal of Long Creek High School. Campbell has more than a decade of experience as a principal and director.

“I am truly honored and blessed to be the new Principal at Long Creek High School. New Braunfels ISD is known for its commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and community involvement, and I am excited about joining a district that shares my passion for student success,” Dr. Campbell said. “I can’t wait to continue building the proud Dragon traditions as well as starting new ones that create unity for our students, staff, and community for years to come!”

Dr. Campbell comes to NBISD from Forney ISD where he most recently has served as the Director of Human Resources since 2022. Prior to working at Forney ISD’s central office, Campbell served as the principal of Forney High School from 2018 until 2022. In that position, he led a campus of 1,800+ students. He has also served as a principal at Whitehouse High School from 2014-2018.

Additionally, Dr. Campbell was an assistant principal in Humble ISD from 2007-2013 at Atascocita and Kingwood high schools. He began his career in education in 2002 at Crosby High School, where he served as CTE teacher and campus webmaster. In that role, he taught business computers information systems, digital graphics and animation and web mastering. Following Crosby, he taught digital graphics and animation, web mastering and computer science at Atascocita High School from 2006-2007. Campbell was also a campus webmaster.

Before entering the education field, Campbell worked for Westbrook Manufacturing for five years as a quality control and OSHA safety manager.

Dr. Campbell earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Stephen F. Austin University. He also has a Doctorate in Executive Educational Leadership from the University of Houston.

“NBISD is ecstatic to welcome Dr. Campbell as the new principal of Long Creek High School,” said NBISD Superintendent Dr. Laurelyn Arterbury. “He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge as a principal and in district leadership. He is going to be a great fit for the Dragons, and we can’t wait to see the impact that he has on the students and staff!”

Campbell serves as a field supervisor for aspiring principals at the University of Texas at Tyler’s College of Education and Psychology. He has also been a 2021-2022 cohort member for the Thompson Principal Academy, a Region 7 Board Representative for the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals and a stakeholder member of the University of Texas at Tyler College of Education and Psychology. He also holds several certifications, including superintendent, principal, master teacher of technology, technology applications, and a secondary business composite certificate.

In 2018, he was recognized as a statewide semi-finalist for the H-E-B Excellence in Education Top Principal Award. He has also been nominated twice for the Teacher of the Year Award at his campus.

Campbell is the proud father of two daughters, Elizabeth (23) and Samantha (20), and a devoted grandfather to his lively two-year-old granddaughter, Sadie Mae. Elizabeth is married to Gordan, her high school sweetheart.
