Members of the New Braunfels High School tennis team were recognized during the December 8th school board meeting for earning spots on the Texas High School Coaches Association (THSCA) Academic All-State teams.

These student-athletes have excelled both on and off the court, earning spots on the elite, first, second, or honorable mention Academic All-State teams. 

The following student-athletes were recognized for achieving Academic All-State in team tennis:

1st Team

Monica Fuentes

2nd Team

Ava Clark

Sara Helen Yoe

Honorable Mention

Jakob Cooper

Caleb Goodner

To be eligible for Academic All-State, nominees must meet the following criteria:

  • Be an athlete, student trainer, or manager in good standing with their team
  • Demonstrate good moral character
  • Be a senior

In addition, student-athletes must have an overall grade point average of 92 or above, which includes courses from grades 9-11 and any completed courses in grade 12.

Meeting these qualifications does not guarantee placement on a team. The THSCA evaluates nominees on multiple factors, including GPA, class rank, and SAT/ACT scores, assigning points based on each criterion. The total points determine the level of recognition received.
