It was a proud moment for New Braunfels ISD this weekend as one of our own took center stage in Major League Baseball’s postseason spotlight. New Braunfels High School alum Bryce Miller (Class of 2017) earned the win in Game 1 of the American League Championship Series, helping the Seattle Mariners to a 3–1 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday.

Miller, who once took the mound for the Unicorns at NBHS, delivered an outstanding performance on one of baseball’s biggest stages. After giving up a leadoff home run in the first inning, he quickly settled in, retiring 13 straight batters and allowing just four hits over six innings. His composure and command helped Seattle take an early lead in the best-of-seven series.

After New Braunfels High School Miller continued his baseball journey at Texas A&M before reaching the major leagues with the Mariners in 2023. The Mariners selected Miller in the fourth round with the 113th overall pick of the 2021 MLB Draft.

This postseason, Miller has started two games and has only given up 6 hits and 3 earned runs while striking out 5 batters.
