Former New Braunfels High School student Fischer Marlow has been selected by the Comal Conservation as the recipient of the 2025 Jensie Madden Conservation Award, the organization’s highest honor recognizing outstanding commitment to preserving  the land, water, and wildlife of Comal County. The award will be presented at the Keep It  Country Music Jam on October 25th. NBISD is proud to see our graduates doing great things in the world! Marlow graduated from New Braunfels High School in 2025.  

The Jensie Madden Conservation Award was established in memory of conservationist  Jensie Simms Madden, whose vision and leadership inspired countless efforts to protect the  Hill Country’s natural resources. The award honors individuals and organizations who  embody her spirit of stewardship and dedication.  

Marlow, a New Braunfels native and lifelong outdoorsman, exemplifies those values. An Eagle Scout and one of only about 300 Scouts nationwide to earn the prestigious National Medal for Outdoor Achievement, Fischer has demonstrated leadership, integrity,  and an enduring love for the natural world.  

His contributions include:  

• Leading conservation projects such as trail construction in Panther Canyon and  restoration work at Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico.  
• Volunteering weekly with the Comal County Trail Alliance and regularly participating in  watershed meetings to stay engaged in local environmental issues.  
• Serving as a counselor and organizer of environmental programs at Slumber Falls Camp in  New Braunfels, where he has taught younger generations to appreciate and care for nature.  
• Sharing his passion through education as an Environmental Science student and through  community service, including trash cleanups, canoe-based river monitoring, and church  leadership on creation care. 

Marlos, a fourth-generation Scout, has also been recognized as a World Conservation Award honoree and recipient of the National Outdoor Awards Conservation achievement  with three gold devices, a distinction achieved by very few Scouts in the more than 100-year  history of Scouting.  

“Fischer Marlow represents the next generation of conservation leadership,” said Roxanna  Deane President of Comal Conservation. “His enthusiasm for protecting our natural  heritage, combined with his ability to inspire others to join him, makes him a most fitting  recipient of the Jensie Madden Award.”  

Marlow, who plans to study outdoor recreation at Texas State University with the goal of  becoming a National Park Ranger, said he is honored to be chosen for the award. “It is an  honor to receive the Jensie Madden Conservation Award and follow in so many other  dedicated people’s footsteps who have received this award. I find so much joy and purpose  in teaching friends, family, and members of the community about nature and conservation. I  hope other young people see this recognition and are inspired to go out and make a  difference in caring for the natural world around them and choose to be conservation  minded in all aspects of their lives”, said Fischer Marlow.  

The Keep It Country Music Jam, where the award will be presented, is an annual event  bringing together music, community, and conservation to celebrate and support efforts to  preserve the Texas Hill Country.
