New Braunfels senior setter Kingsley Minus keeps adding to her accolades after a historic volleyball season for the Unicorns – reaching the Class 5A State Semifinals. Minus has been named to the UIL State All-Tournament Team and was also selected as The Austin Sports Journal’s Setter of the Year recently.
Minus has signed to play for Tarleton State University next year and was a leader of a team that won the District 26-5A title and advanced all the way to the Class 5A Division I state semifinals. She was also named the district’s Most Valuable Player.
Some of her season stats include:
• 883 assists
• 386 kills on a .233 hitting percentage
• 2.8 kills per set
• 461 digs
• 55 aces
Over her career, Minus totaled 1,021 kills and 2,288 assists.
Minus was selected to the UIL State All-Tournament Team alongside standout players from across Texas, including state champ Dallas Highland Park’s Sarah Floyd, Taylor Toomay, Brooklyn Bailey and Georgia Whann and Jillian Vinal of College Station A&M Consolidated and Alyssa Todd of Aledo.
She wasn’t the only Unicorn recognized by The Austin Sports Journal. New Braunfels junior players Jordan Ash, Shaylie Shaefer, and Hayden Jefferson were all named 2026 “Players to Watch,” and the Unicorns were ranked the No. 2 team in South-Central Texas in Class 5A.
