Long Creek High School has its first national champion in Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) history.

LCHS student Sunday Zimmerman earned the title of National Champion in the Child Development: Early Adolescence event at the FCCLA National Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C. The annual conference brings together the nation’s top FCCLA members to compete in career-focused events that showcase leadership, technical knowledge, and workplace skills.

Zimmerman’s first-place finish is a historic achievement for LCHS FCCLA chapter and highlights the work being done to be noticed at the national level. In the Child Development: Early Adolescence event, students demonstrate their knowledge of child development principles and apply that understanding through research, analysis, and presentations designed to address real-world scenarios.

FCCLA is a national Career and Technical Student Organization that provides students with opportunities to strengthen personal leadership, career readiness, and technical skills through Family and Consumer Sciences education. The National Leadership Conference serves as the organization’s premier annual event, bringing together thousands of students from across the country to compete, participate in leadership development, and celebrate student achievement.

Zimmerman’s national title marks the first FCCLA national championship for Long Creek High School and adds another historic accomplishment to the school’s growing tradition. Congratulations to Sunday as well as Mackenzie Estes who also competed in Event Management at the National level of FCCLA.

Estes won regional and state championships and earned a gold medal at the national competition.
