Art students from Lamar and Memorial Elementary Schools received special recognition this week for their creative work on plants. The students were honored at both the Comal County Commissioner’s Court meeting and the City of New Braunfels Council meeting, celebrating their talent and dedication to the arts.

The New Braunfels Chapter of the Native Plant Society of Texas hosted an art contest and those who were honored were invited to attend a special proclamation signing recognizing Texas Native Plant Week. The Native Plant Society shares its passion for and knowledge of native plants with the community through meetings, educational classes, community gardens, and biannual native plant sales. This recognition not only highlights the students’ artistic achievements but also connects them with a local organization dedicated to environmental stewardship.
