New Braunfels ISD is proud to announce that two outstanding educators have been named finalists for the prestigious H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards, one of the largest and most respected education award programs in Texas.

District and H-E-B leadership surprised the honorees on Monday, March 23rd, celebrating their incredible contributions to students and the NBISD community. Kevin Korpi was recognized at New Braunfels High School, while Courtney Allison received the exciting news at Memorial Elementary.

Korpi, a longtime and dedicated teacher at New Braunfels High School, has been named a finalist for the Secondary Lifetime Achievement Award. This distinguished category honors educators with more than 20 years of experience who have demonstrated a lasting impact on their students, campus, and profession.

Allison, a counselor at Memorial Elementary, has been selected as a finalist for the Elementary School Counselor of the Year Award, recognizing her commitment to supporting students’ academic success, emotional well-being, and overall growth.

As finalists, both Korpi and Allison received a $1,000 cash award for themselves, along with an additional $1,000 grant for their respective campuses.

Winners will be announced at the H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards Banquet, which will take place in Houston on May 3rd. If selected, Lifetime Achievement Award winners will receive $25,000 in cash along with a $25,000 grant for their school. Counselor of the Year winners will receive $10,000 in cash and a $15,000 grant for their campus.

Finalists for the H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards are nominated by their peers and community members, making this recognition especially meaningful as it reflects the impact these educators have on those around them.
