Kristen Kelsey has been announced as the new Dance Team Director at New Braunfels High School. Kelsey brings 20 years of experience as a dance and drill team director and educator, inspiring students to reach their full potential both on and off the dance floor. 

Throughout her career, she has built a reputation for developing strong performers, leaders, and team cultures centered on excellence and school spirit.

“I am beyond excited and deeply honored to step into the role of the Head Dance Director at New Braunfels High School,” said Kelsey. “This opportunity means so much to me, and I am incredibly grateful for the trust and support from the district and community. I look forward to pouring my passion, energy, and heart into this program while helping students grow as dancers, leaders, and individuals. I cannot wait to be part of the incredible tradition and spirit that make New Braunfels High School so special.”

Kelsey most recently taught at the Brazos Success Academy in Brazosport ISD as a Leadership and NTC teacher. Prior to that role, she spent 20 years at Brazoswood High School in Clute, where she served as a Fine Arts Dance Teacher and Dance/Drill Team and Cheerleading Coach. During her tenure, she taught Dance I-III, Dance for Athletes, and Aerial courses while directing award-winning programs.

Under Kelsey’s leadership, Brazoswood earned numerous honors, including Super Sweepstakes Awards, Judges’ Awards, Choreography Awards, Precision Awards, and State Championships.

Kelsey earned a Bachelor of Science in Communication from Lamar University, where she served as Lieutenant on the Lamar University Spirit Team and was actively involved in Alpha Chi Omega Sorority leadership. She also holds TEA certifications in Dance 8-12, PE EC-12 and Business & Finance 6-12.

In addition to her educational experience, Kelsey is actively involved in professional organizations including the Texas Dance Educators Association and USA Cheer. She currently serves on the Texas Dance Educators Association Scholarship Committee and has also worked as a judge and clinician for dance competitions across Texas.

Kelsey is the proud mom of two beautiful bonus daughters, Taylor (23) and Kaylin (20), and will relocate to New Braunfels with her dog, Riot, as she begins her new role leading the New Braunfels High School Monaceras, Mystics, and Sapphires.
