New Braunfels ISD Athletics is excited to announce the inaugural Mythic Matchup, an 8th grade football game between the New Braunfels Middle School Dragons and the Oak Run Middle School Unicorns. The event will take place on Tuesday, September 16th, with games at 5:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. at Unicorn Stadium.

This marks the first time the two schools will face off in a full game setting, rather than a scrimmage like in previous years. By hosting the event at Unicorn Stadium, NBISD aims to create a positive and memorable environment for both Dragons and Unicorns to showcase their talents while learning to compete the NBISD way.

The Mythic Matchup will be more than just a football game. In collaboration with cheer and the NBISD Fine Arts Department, the game will feature performances by the bands and dance teams. The idea is to provide a Friday Night Lights atmosphere!

The Mythic Matchup also aligns with Pillar 3 of NBISD’s Future Focused 2030 Strategic Plan, emphasizing community engagement and evolving traditions as the district continues to grow.

NBISD invites families, students, and community members to come out and support the Unicorns and Dragons in this exciting new chapter of district athletics.
