Head Coach Charline Hagemaster of Long Creek High School has been named the Texas High School Coaches Association Region 8 Head Boys Wrestling Coach of the Year, capping off a remarkable season leading the Dragons program a state gold and bronze this year.

In her inaugural year at Long Creek, Coach Hagemaster made an immediate and lasting impact. She more than doubled participation in the girls wrestling program while also helping lead the JV 14-5A boys team to a third-place overall finish in district competition.

The season was filled with historic milestones. Under her leadership, Long Creek celebrated its first-ever state champion, as well as the program’s first-ever state placer in girls wrestling—achievements that mark significant growth for the program.

Coach Hagemaster has also focused on building a strong foundation for the future. She launched a middle school wrestling club for seventh and eighth graders, creating opportunities to spark interest and develop the next generation of Dragon wrestlers. This initiative is already helping grow the sport and strengthen the program pipeline.
