NBHS Seniors of the Month Recognized by Board of Trustees

New Braunfels High School Seniors of the Month were recognized by the New Braunfels ISD Board of Trustees during the regular board meeting held on February 9th. Principal Greg Hughes proudly introduced and highlighted each student’s accomplishments to the Board.

Thomas Pickett

Thomas Pickett, son of Bill and Debra Pickett, has attended New Braunfels High School for all four years of high school. During his time at NBHS, Thomas has made a significant impact in the performing arts.

He has been a member of the NBHS Band for three years and Choir for four years. Thomas is also involved in Texas Future Music Educators and is active in the youth group at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Beyond NBHS, he has participated in the San Antonio Youth Chorale for three years and the Youth Orchestra of San Antonio for two years.

Thomas’ musical excellence has earned him numerous accolades, including being named to the TMEA All-State Choir in both 2025 and 2026. He has also been recognized by the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS), earned first place as a Texoma Finalist, and was named Outstanding Soloist at the state UIL Solo and Ensemble contest.

After graduation, Thomas plans to attend a four-year university to earn his bachelor’s degree in Music Performance, with hopes of continuing on to complete his master’s degree. His dream is to travel the world as a performer while also teaching at the university level.

Ismarie Gomez Rodriguez

Ismarie Gomez Rodriguez, daughter of Luis Gomez and Kiomarie Rodriguez, has attended NBHS for three and a half years after transferring during the second semester of her freshman year. In that time, she has distinguished herself academically and artistically.

Ismarie has been involved in choir since fourth grade and has a lifelong passion for art. At NBHS, she participates in Choir and Art, serving as President of the Art Club and as a member of the choir’s a cappella group, Union. She is also currently performing in Legally Blonde in one of the main roles.

Her artistic talents have been showcased publicly twice, and she earned a place in Region Choir this year. Academically, Ismarie has challenged herself with rigorous coursework, including AP Biochemistry, AP Language, AP 2-D Design, and AP Literature. She has maintained straight A’s for much of her high school career.

Following graduation, Ismarie plans to pursue a career in medicine as a psychiatrist. While she recognizes the long academic journey ahead, she is determined to work hard and succeed in a field she feels called to pursue.
