The New Braunfels ISD Board of Trustees recognized Lakota Faulkner and Damien Hill as the Seniors of the Month during a regular monthly meeting that was held on Monday, October 14th.

The students were introduced to trustees and those in attendance by New Braunfels High School Principal Greg Hughes.

Lakota Faulkner has attended NBHS for all four years of high school, and she has been a Unicorn her entire life! Throughout high school she has been a member of the track and field team in which she is a discus thrower. She also is a former cheerleader and was on the varsity squad during her sophomore year.

Through the College Board, Faulkner has been recognized through the First Generation Recognition Program. While at NBHS, she has served on the student council and FCCLA as well as being a Unicorn Handler. 

Outside of school, she has worked in a retirement home since the end of her freshman year and she works at On the Grind Coffee Shop. Faulkner also attends RealLife Church youth where she has been an intern, and she is now in the Friends of Camp Club.

“After high school, I plan to attend the University of Texas at Austin or the University of Colorado at Denver,” she said. “I plan to major in nursing to get my BSN and go into NICU nursing.”

Faulkner is the daughter of Colin Faulkner, Jolene Huereca and Jacob Huereca.

Damien Hill has also attended NBHS for all four years of high school. He is the top tennis player on the Unicorn varsity team and serves as the team captain. He also has served as an assistant tennis coach for the last three years.

Hill is also a musician and he has played piano and organ on two studio songs that have been released on Spotify. Additionally, he can be seen playing at live music venues around New Braunfels.  

He is a member of the student council, National Honor Society, and he serves as the founder and president of the engineering club at NBHS. 

Academically, he is currently ranked No. 3 in the graduating class of 2025. He was a member of Model UN and he scored a 5 on two of his AP exams and a 4 on two other AP tests.

“I want to study electrical engineering at UT in order to work with music equipment behind the studio production of songs, designing amplifiers and guitar pedals for musicians to use,” Hill said. “I’m excited to go down this path because I get to combine my past experiences with music and math/engineering as I’ve always loved math classes, always taking the hardest available, and my entire life has revolved around music. Combining these two aspects of life is a dream of mine.”

He is the son of Geoffrey and Andrea Hill.
