New Braunfels High School recognized two outstanding seniors during the September 14 regular meeting of the New Braunfels ISD Board of Trustees. Annabelle Ewald and Tyson Templin were honored as NBHS Seniors of the Month for September.

Both students have made meaningful contributions to the Unicorn community through academics, athletics, leadership, service and extracurricular activities.

Annabelle Ewald

Annabelle Ewald is in her second year at New Braunfels High School after previously attending Seguin High School. During her time at NBHS and throughout high school, she has been involved in a wide range of activities and organizations.

Annabelle has been a four-year varsity cheerleader and a member of varsity tennis, serving as team captain for two years. She has also participated in varsity track, DECA, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Student Council and the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Team.

Her commitment to service extends beyond the school community. Annabelle has been involved with the Seeds of Love charity for four years, assisted with a Girl Scout troop for three years and is a member of The Springs Church. She has also served as a lifeguard at Schlitterbahn for three years and as a waterski instructor for two years. As a competitive water skier and team member for four years, Annabelle has continued to pursue her passion for the sport.

Annabelle has also taken on leadership roles as treasurer of the Zonta Club, a member of Rotary Club and a participant in the Debutante program. She has previously been named Student of the Month and earned her Entrepreneurship and Small Business certification last school year.

One of her most meaningful experiences has been mentoring students with Down syndrome as they prepared and performed dances, an opportunity that allowed her to encourage and support fellow students.

Outside of school and her community activities, Annabelle also helps care for her three younger siblings.

After graduation, Annabelle hopes to attend Texas Christian University, a school that holds special meaning for her family. She plans to study business and hopes to become a TCU cheerleader. While she is still exploring her future career path, Annabelle dreams of one day owning her own business.

“I’m excited to go to college, meet new people, get involved, and figure out what I want to do with my future,” Annabelle said.

She is the daughter of John Ewald.

Tyson Templin

Tyson Templin is a four-year NBHS student who has distinguished himself through academics, athletics, leadership and service.

Tyson is a member of varsity tennis, Student Council and National Honor Society. He founded and serves as president of the Spanish Conversation Club and is also involved in the Investment Club, World Languages Club and Young Men’s Service League, where he serves as vice president of meetings.

His leadership and community involvement extend throughout New Braunfels. Tyson has participated in Youth Leadership New Braunfels, the Mill Street Youth Advisory Council, where he serves as secretary, New Braunfels City University and Rotary Youth Leadership Awards.

Tyson has also gained valuable experience outside the classroom as a research assistant with Stryker Medical and as a lifeguard at the Landa Park Aquatic Center.

His academic and extracurricular accomplishments include being named an AP Scholar with Distinction, receiving the Young Men’s Service League Outstanding Service Award and earning Tennis Academic All-District honors.

After graduation, Tyson plans to attend college and pursue a pre-medical path. His long-term goal is to become an oral surgeon or orthodontist.
