New Braunfels High School is pleased to announce Danielle Coleman as the new Head Volleyball Coach and Girls Athletic Coordinator. Coleman brings 15+ years of volleyball coaching experience and is accomplished in motivating athletes to achieve their goals while developing winning programs.

“My goal is to build an athletic program rooted in strong relationships, accountability, and discipline, where we develop the whole student-athlete,” Coleman said. “When we commit to that standard every day, success becomes the result.”

Coleman comes to Unicorn Country via La Vernia High School, where she served as Head Volleyball Coach and Girls Athletic Coordinator for the past four seasons. During her tenure, she compiled an impressive 143-53 overall record. In 2025, Coleman guided the Bears to a 43-10 season and a trip to the Class 4A Division I State Finals. Her teams also earned two area finalist finishes and advanced to the regional finals.

“We are excited to welcome Coach Coleman as the new Head Volleyball Coach and Girls Athletic Coordinator at New Braunfels High School,” said Richard Mendoza, NBISD Athletic Director. “Her proven track record of success, commitment to developing student-athletes, and deep roots in Central Texas volleyball make her an outstanding fit for us.”

Prior to her time at La Vernia, Coleman spent four seasons as an assistant coach at New Braunfels Canyon High School. While there, she was part of a staff that achieved tremendous success, including a Class 5A State Semifinal appearance, along with finishes as regional finalists, regional quarterfinalists, and area finalists. She has also coached at Canyon Middle School, Texas State Club Volleyball, and with the South Texas, United, and Alamo Volleyball Associations.

In addition to her coaching accomplishments, Coleman brings a diverse educational background to the role. She has taught chemistry, physics, biology, and general science, and has also served as a 5th grade teacher. 

Throughout her career, Coleman has received numerous honors. She was named the Texas High School Coaches Association Region 7-4A Coach of the Year in 2025 and the San Antonio Express-News Coach of the Year in 2025. She has also been selected as the Texas Girls Coaches Association All-Star Head Coach for 2026. Additional recognitions include THSCA Coach of the Week (2025), Texas Volleyball Insiders Coach of the Week (2024), TGCA Sub-Varsity Coach of the Year (2021), and a Teacher of the Year nominee in 2017.

Coleman played collegiate volleyball at Ole Miss and Texas State University. She is a 2014 graduate of Texas State and holds a Master of Arts in Educational Administration from Texas A&M University–San Antonio.

She will begin working with the Volleyball team later this Spring.
