County Line Elementary proudly became the first elementary school in New Braunfels ISD to establish a chapter of the National Elementary Honor Society (NEHS). On May 12th, the campus held its annual induction ceremony in the cafeteria, where 23 students were officially inducted into the organization.

To be eligible for membership consideration, students were required to meet the scholarship criterion of earning straight A’s for four consecutive nine weeks. In addition to academic excellence, candidates were expected to demonstrate high standards of leadership, service, and character.

Leadership qualifications were based on participation in two or more school or community activities. Students also demonstrated service through involvement in projects that positively impacted the school or community. Character was evaluated through integrity, behavior, ethics, responsibility, and cooperation with both peers and faculty members.

Students selected for induction were reviewed by a faculty council consisting of five faculty members appointed by the principal.

As members of NEHS, these students will participate in both individual and chapter-based service projects throughout the year, helping strengthen leadership skills while making a positive impact on the campus and community.

“Service projects help our students understand that leadership is not just something we talk about at school. It is something we live out through our actions,” said Principal April Jones. “When students give their time, talents, and hearts to support others, they strengthen the climate of our campus and make a real impact in our community. These projects remind our students that even small acts of service can create a lasting difference.”

The establishment of the NEHS chapter aligns with County Line Elementary’s CREATE model, which emphasizes leadership, service, collaboration, and student empowerment. Campus leaders believe the organization will provide students with additional opportunities to develop as servant leaders both inside and outside the classroom.

NEHS is modeled after its companion organization, the National Honor Society (NHS), one of the nation’s oldest and most recognized student organizations.
