The public is invited to take a walk down memory lane as one of the city’s oldest schools hits the century mark.

Carl Schurz Elementary School invites the community to celebrate its 100th Anniversary on Thursday, March 26, at 5:00 p.m., commemorating a century of educational excellence, community partnership, and student achievement.

Since opening its doors in 1925, Carl Schurz Elementary School has served generations of families and has remained a cornerstone of the New Braunfels community.

The centennial celebration will feature student performances, guided campus tours led by student leadership, and family-friendly activities honoring the school’s rich history and continued commitment to student success.

“This milestone is a celebration of the families, educators, students, and community members who have made Carl Schurz what it is today,” said Omar Diaz, Principal of Carl Schurz Elementary School. “For 100 years, our school has been a place of learning, leadership, and pride for our community.”

The celebration will include live music by Colton’s Kin, centennial custom-made ice cream provided by Scoop Street, commemorative 100th anniversary cookies from Springs Community Church, and balloon art and face painting for students and families.
Community members, alumni, families, and local partners are encouraged to attend and be part of this historic evening. The event highlights the enduring impact Carl Schurz Elementary School has had on the New Braunfels community and showcases the vibrant student leadership shaping its future.

Because of its long-standing role in the community, Carl Schurz Elementary School welcomes opportunities to collaborate with local media and community organizations to share this milestone celebration with a broader audience.
