Ensuring safety and security are of the utmost importance at NBISD. We are committed to implementing districtwide projects to upgrade security measures.

Intruder-resistant glass will be placed in strategic locations across the district. Security enhancements are planned for the construction of vestibules at Lone Star Early Childhood Center, Seele, Lamar, Walnut Springs, and County Line elementaries. The hardening of exterior gates and fencing for Veramendi, Seele, County Line, Lamar, Voss Farm, Walnut Springs, and Klein Road elementaries.

Radios for a single emergency communication system districtwide will be purchased. Additionally, upgrades to classroom door hardware, the Raptor software for lockdown procedures, and the installation of additional card readers contribute to a safer learning environment.

Select exterior door replacements are slated for Oak Run Middle School, DAEP, Lone Star, Lamar, Carl Schurz, Seele, Walnut Springs, and County Line. Intercom replacements also are contemplated at a majority of the campuses.

The comprehensive safety measures also include the replacement of fire alarms at Carl Schurz, Lone Star Early Childhood Center, and ORMS.
