Next Phase of Oak Run Parkway Road Construction & Gate Update
04/13/2017

Oak Run Parkway Gate replacement on April 13, 2017

NBISD was notified this week that ASA, the Veramendi developers, will begin the next phase of construction for the extension of Oak Run Parkway that is being built to access the new Veramendi Elementary.

With this development, their contractors will remove the existing fence and gate at the end of Oak Run Parkway and install a temporary chain link fence along with wooden traffic barricades.

NBISD is working with the City of New Braunfels to make sure this is a coordinated effort and has instructed ASA to have their work crews use the haul road and not Oak Run Parkway to access the site. This includes all equipment and the crews’ personal vehicles.

NBISD selects names for new elementary schools
09/27/2016

On Sept. 19, the NBISD Board of Trustees voted on the names for the two new schools after accepting nominations from the public over a six-month period. These two schools are being built under the 2015 Bond Program to address growth and overcrowding at the elementary level.

The Board voted to name one school Voss Farms Elementary based on the residential community that it services. The school is located on the east side of IH-35 in the Voss Farms Subdivision near the intersection of County Line Road and Pahmeyer Road.

The second elementary was named Veramendi Elementary after the local development where the school is being built. Veramendi is located on the west side of IH-35 and adjacent to the Oak Run Subdivision at the end of Oak Run Parkway.

Both schools are 90,000 square feet and will service 750 students in grades kindergarten through 5th grade. The schools are projected to open in August 2017. For more information on the 2015 Bond Program, visit www.nbisd.org and click on Bond Information under the Community tab.

Haul Road Update for School Site in Veramendi
06/14/2016

The haul road for the school site in Veramendi has been under construction since early May and nearing completion. We are in the final phases of permitting with TxDOT and hope to have the entrance off of Loop 337 open by the end of the week. This will allow the heavy-weighted trucks to access the site through the haul road rather than Oak Run Parkway.

Only the utilities contractors and other smaller commercial vehicles will use the entrance at the end of Oak Run Parkway, as needed. The Oak Run Parkway entrance will more than likely remained locked with limited use. Truck traffic on Oak Run Parkway should be minimal in this phase of construction.

The construction of the school has entered the milling phase with two milling machines running up to 6 days a week. The site has been cleared and the floor plan of the school is being excavated.

New Q&A for Voss Farms - Increased Truck Traffic
06/10/2016

Why are construction trucks using residential streets rather than Pahmeyer Road to access the school construction site?

Due to the recent rainy weather, the construction road to the school site from the intersection of Pahmeyer and Strawcove has been delayed. Therefore, the developer has instructed our construction crews to access the site using residential streets until the road is complete.

What is the route they are supposed to take to the school construction site?

The construction traffic traveling to the school site has been directed by the developer to temporarily use the route of Strawcove, Broken Wheel, Logan Trail and Sunset View to access the site. This is the entrance route and the exit is the same route in reverse.

Should construction traffic be traveling down Strawcove past Broken Wheel?

All other traffic seen continuing down Strawcove to Twisted River, Jeffrey and Kalli Jo are more than likely construction traffic for the houses being built on Kalli Jo and Logan Trail. More than likely they are exiting down Logan Trail to Broken Wheel and out on Strawcove.

What other construction traffic might be seen in and around Voss Farms at this time?

In total, there are at least four construction projects going on in or around Voss Farms at this time: 1) Lennar’s development of a new phase of homes (on the left of Pahmeyer) and extension of Pahmeyer; 2) school construction; 3) Lennar building homes on Kalli Jo and Logan Trail; and 4) a storm drain being built behind Logan Trail. The last three projects mentioned above are using residential streets to access the construction sites. Once the developer completes the construction road along Pahmeyer, the school construction traffic will use that route.

New Q&A for Voss Farms and Veramendi sites - Queuing Areas for Drop-off/Pick-up
05/10/2016

How much area will be available for cars in the drop-off/pick-up lines on the school property?

An additional traffic lane has been added to the student drop-off/pick-up area. This lane expands the on-site queuing area from 1,050 linear feet to 1,600 linear feet which is 280 feet over the recommended space needed for an 800-student capacity facility.

Note: The image below is of the school site in Vermendi. Oak Run Parkway runs left to right at the bottom and the new road Eskola will run up and down on the right.

New Q&A for Voss Farms Site - Extension of Pahmeyer Road & Parent Entrance
05/10/2016
Additional Q&A related to the new school in Voss Farms school site:

Will Pahmeyer Road will connect to Klein Road?

Yes. Pahmeyer Road will be extended through Voss Farms to the newly plated Shepherds Glen subdivision and connect to the other end of Pahmeyer Road in the Angelfire Subdivision off of Klein Road. (Source: P&Z Minutes from May 5, 2015, page 11)

Where will the student drop-off/pick-up line be for the school in Voss Farms?

The site plan denotes the student drop-off/pick-up line at the main entrance off Pahmeyer Road.

NOTE: The image below has Pahmeyer Road running left to right across the top and the new road Rising Sun Blvd. running up and down. See prior post to view Voss Farms image.

Construction begins on New Elementary School (West) in Veramendi
05/05/2016

Heavy equipment trucks and trucks carrying materials for the haul road will be traveling on Oak Run Parkway in the Oak Run Subdivision beginning today. Please note that trucks may run up to six days a week, including Saturdays.

The construction of a new elementary school on the west side of NBISD began on Monday, May 2. The construction crews began clearing the path for the haul road as well as the footprint of the school building. The haul road is being constructed at the same time as the school site. The contractor, Cadence McShane, is constructing both projects.

The haul road is approximately 1 mile long and will run from Loop 337 near the entrance for New Braunfels High School up along the ranch property line next to Independence Drive and along the back fence line of the Oak Run Subdivision and end at Oak Run Parkway. The road will be constructed approximately 10 feet from the property fence lines and will be 20 feet wide and lined with aggregate materials such as crushed rock. Cadence McShane, the contractor, will be watering the haul road during construction to help mitigate the dust.

The haul road is projected to be complete within 60 days. The school site will be constructed over the next 16 months and is projected to open in August 2017.

Construction begins on New Elementary School (East) in Voss Farms
05/05/2016

The construction of a new elementary school on the east side of NBISD began on Monday, May 2, 2016. The school site is located in the Voss Farms subdivision off of County Line Road. The new school will be located on a 16-acre site just past Logan Trail at the future intersection of Pahmeyer Road and Rising Sun Boulevard. The front of the school will face Pahmeyer Road with entrances for staff and buses off of Rising Sun Boulevard.
