On May 29, approximately 550 high school graduates walked the stage during the New Braunfels High School Commencement Ceremony at Texas State University’s Strahan Coliseum.


The ceremony featured the class officers and Top 10 graduates from the class in several speaking roles including the opening sentiments, graduation address, and closing sentiments.


This year’s salutatorian, Mia Hofstad, also give an address followed by the class valedictorian, Christian Krueger.

Ceremony Viewing

This year’s graduation ceremony was streamed live online for the first time on www.nbisd.org. The live stream could be viewed on all Apple and Android capable devices. The live stream began 15 minutes before the start of the graduation ceremony.

The ceremony can also be viewed on Time Warner Cable Channel 98 after June 6 at 8 a.m., 12 p.m., 3 p.m., and 6 p.m.  The graduation video is also available for purchase by calling 830-643-5780 or by emailing info@nbisd.org. The cost is $10 per DVD. Summer offices hours are Monday-Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. until Aug. 15, 2014. The offices will also be closed June 30-July 4.

Valedictorian and Salutatorian

Christian Krueger is the president of the NBHS National Honor Society, the Key Club Senior Class Representative and a Blue Crew member. He played basketball and was on the track and field team. He participated in Youth Leadership New Braunfels, Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership and served on the Landa Park Golf Course Advisory Board. He was named to the Duke University Talent Identification Program and has served as a legislative intern for a Texas State Representative. He plans to attend Princeton University and study in the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs. Ultimately, he hopes to enter government service, perhaps following law school. He is the son of Bob and Kathleen Krueger.

Mia Hofstad is a member of the NBHS Cross Country team that is ranked 14th in the nation and 2nd in the state. She has been a varsity track member all four years of high school and was a Texas Relays Qualifier. She is the senior class vice president and a member of the Key Club and National Honor Society. She participated in New Braunfels Youth Leadership and is very active in her church. She will attend Rice University this fall to study biochemistry and cell biology. She hopes to attend medical school and become a pediatric general surgeon. At Rice, she will also be part of the cross country and track teams. She is the daughter of Karen Drew Linn, Kent Hofstad and Rick Linn.
